微软：WP8升级WP8.1是铁的事实

今年春季，微软将先后发布Windows Phone8.1和Win8.1 Update1，微软也再次肯定声明，所有WP8设备都能升级到最新的WP8.1平台，这是一个铁的事实，不会上演WP7无法升级WP8的悲剧。

和其他智能手机系统升级一样，不少用户都担心自己的WP8设备升级后是否带来兼容性问题，例如WP8.1能否正常运行在现有的WP8新老设备。

为此微软做了澄清，保证现有的Windows Phone8用户可以很简单升级最新的Windows Phone Blue，即Windows Phone8.1系统。

在CES2014的一场发布会上，微软Windows Phone高管Greg Sullivan透露，我们不会继续上演WP7无法升级WP8类似的情况，现有的WP8设备都支持未来的系统更新或者固件升级。

最后，微软Sullivan也再次强调了WP8设备享有36个月的更新技术支持政策。

Lumia Black update

On Windows Phone, the updates are divided up into two types: firmware and OS. Microsoft handles the OS updates, like Update 3, while OEMs use firmware to manipulate custom settings to work with their hardware.

Lumia Black is a forthcoming firmware update from Nokia for all Lumia devices. It was previously known as 'Bittersweet shimmer' during its development.
