Every morning I’d have to face the most difficult question; what to have for breakfast. Not to mention, I’d be rushing to prepare for work and to beat the rush hour. So in the end, I’ll just pick up some pastries or bread from the bakery or sometimes, I’d even go for McDonald’s breakfast meal. Not exactly the healthiest isn’t it? That’s what I thought. Anyway, I’ve maintain this breakfast routine for almost 3 years and I’ve gained a lot of weight since. So I figured that it was time to start eating healthy if I want to lose those pounds. The answer is overnight oats.
Overnight oats is the easiest, healthiest, quickest, and delicious breakfast that you can make because you wouldn’t need to wake up earlier than your usual time just to prepare for breakfast. Moreover, unlike making oats the conventional way, overnight oats are a non-cook method of making oatmeal.
All you have to do is combine oats with liquid; most frequently used
is milk, soy milk, almond milk, or yogurt, pour the mixture into a mason
jar and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. You can always add in
some bananas, berries, peaches, honey, maple syrup, or chocolate to
alleviate the taste. If you are looking for a little crunch, add in the
nuts or seeds just before eating except for chia seeds as they need more
time to absorb the liquid. The best part about overnight oats is that
there are various combinations you can try every day. So here’s an
overnight oat recipe to give you a head start:
Ingredients
¼ cup of oats
2 tbsp of honey/maple syrup
½ of fresh milk
¼ cup of fresh blueberries
1 tbsp of chia seeds
Instructions
Mix the oats, milk, maple syrup/honey, and chia seeds and stir well.
Pour the mixture into the jar and cover with a lid and store the jar in the fridge.
Before consuming, mix in the fresh blueberries.
