Albedo is the measurment of fraction of radiation reflect back by the earth surface (unitless). Radiation (EM energy) reach the earth surface as shortwave and reflected back by the earth surface in form of longwave (usually refered to as out going long wave radiation or OLR).Different surfaces have different albedo value, e.g ocean has a smaller albedo compare to icesheet.
