Teochew Losing Ground in M'sia, even in 大山脚

There are more & more Teochew children in Malaysia speaks Mandarin, totally forgotten Teochew.
There was a campaign by the Chinese Society promoting Mandarin more than 25 yrs back, for better communication among different dialects group.

But its is very unfortubate that most kids now speaks Mandarin as their mother toungue.

Ones can pick up Mandarin & English anywhere in the world , but it is almost impossible to pick up & perfect Teochew at latter years in life.

I was back in 大山脚 recently, I was told by sister in law that a nanny who has 4 kids under her care, all the kids speaks Mandarin with their Parent.

教导孩子潮语应是家长的责任。孩子幼小，不可能交由他们自己去摸索。

问题是东南亚的大人们也不会正确的汉语方言，潮语 汝＝普通话的你 有 lw,li,lu 的读法。马来西亚的潮州人哪懂得这些？

就算你会讲，很多朋友会讲，但有多少个回和他们的孩子讲呢？流传下去的越来越少

大山脚讲福建话的人还多过潮州话吧？！

不仅海外的潮州人有这个危机～～中国本土的潮州人也逐渐有了这个问题～～

由于在学校学的是普通话～～以至于现在的孩子有很多词语都不懂得怎么用潮州话来读了～～《潮州音字典》既不会查，更不懂怎么拼读了～～多语教学本来对一个人的能力和素质很有帮助～～但是越是在多语环境下～～更不能丢弃对自己母语的掌握和传承～～语言是文化的最大的载体～～方言的丢失，随之的是地方文化的沦亡～～最终一个地方的人群将失去自己的特色而被人同化了
