PKR threw a “lobster” barbeque party at Kampung Jalan Baru in Permatang Pauh this afternoon, to make a point about the goods and services tax (GST).
As the expensive seafood were put over the grill, campaigners stood by the busy Jalan Baru and held up anti-GST posters.
One campaigner shouted into a hailer, saying "tolak GST" (reject GST) and "hidup rakyat" (long live the people), as hundreds of passing motorists honked in support.
Lobsters and shellfish are not subjected to the GST when Putrajaya introduced the consumption tax on April 1, but other items such as household goods and food stuff are.
Pakatan Rakyat leaders have been raising the issue even before the tax was enforced, condemning the federal government of implementing a tax that burdened ordinary citizens, including the lower income group.
In the run-up to the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign, PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali had promised a lobster party to prove a point that the tax should not be enforced. – April 30, 2015.

公正党不知道为了证明什么,会去花大钱买龙虾来开派对。我猜是因为有了 GST 后罐头太贵,所以人民只能够买没有 GST 的食物,比如龙虾来吃。
