GEORGE TOWN: Work on the long-delayed Penang Sentral project is expected to start in September this year.

Penang Federal Action Council chairman Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman said the development plans for the project have been submitted to the local authorities for approval.

"I am confident the state will be professional in evaluating the plans. The first phase of the RM2 billion project is expected to be completed in 2017. This is a high-impact project which benefits the people," he said at a press conference today.

The integrated transport and logistics hub is to integrate rail, ferry and land transport on a 9.7ha site in Butterworth.

The project was launched in 2007 by then prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi but its implementation was delayed due to funding and land acquisition issues.

The project was originally scheduled to start in 2009 and the entire project to be completed in 2015.

其实这个Project倒底是怎么样了? 怎么好像拖个有完没完啊?

其实我们的Penang Sentral 真的很丢脸，去看看KL sentral, Kuantan sentral, 我们简直差太远了

我去年曾经email 给州政府，问他们为什么penang sentral 到现在还没有开工，到现在还是暂时性。

他们的答复是说联邦政府的管辖，是联邦拖这个工程，他们CC 我的email 给联邦政府，要他们回答我的问题。

可是联邦政府完全没有理我

由现任的联邦来建，建不建都无所谓。建了后，担心1988年的码头坍塌会重演。
