Wok & Pan seems to be eberyone’s favourite whenever i mentioned about western food! i visited Wok & Pan thrice this month itself and i got to try quite many dishes on the menu. Wok & Pan offers an assortment of western cuisine AND Nyonya cuisine! a truly 中西合璧, or 娘西合璧 wtf. the location is quite strategically located at Melaka Raya, a place i would avoid like plague on weekend! it’s not too hard to find parking lot as its location was at a less bustled street. Wok & Pan can be quite packed during peak hours. but it’s just a small quaint shop, so the seating is not abundant to begin with.
Western CuisineMushroom Soup | RM 4 complimentary garlic bread Pork Chop BBQ | RM 12 Pork Rib BBQ | RM 29 Chicken Burger | RM 10.90 Chef Pork Burger | RM 9.90 Spaghetti Marinara | RM 15 i liked that they prepared the Mushroom Soup from scratch, not serving you some can food. it’s laden with mushroom bits which resembles Cafe 43′s! Pork Chop which served with fries, salad and blanched greens was tender and huge in portion. in fact all of their western dishes were quite fulfilling in term of portion. Pork Rib slathered with BBQ sauce was sadly dry and uninteresting. Mami protested it’s just slightly off-standard that day. well it only means the food quality was inconsistent which is a taboo in F&B. but i do like its fall-off-bone tender. both Pork & Chicken Burger were satisfactory! crispy meat patty sandwiched by fragrant buns served with fries and salad. you should totally give Spaghetti Marinara a miss though, it just doesn’t worth the calorie.
Nyonya CuisineSotong Sambal | RM 35 Nyonya Mixed Vegetables | RM 18 Fish Head Curry | RM 45 Steamed Rice | RM 1.50 okay to be honest, i don’t really enjoy the Nyonya spread here in Wok & Pan. i thought it’s overpriced and tasted mediocre. for instance, the Sotong Sambal which contained merely one piece (?) of squid and a small handful of petai (ewww), don’t you think it’s a ripped off at RM 35? nah don’t be deceived by how full the dish looked, there’s a bed of tomato slices at the bottom. no wonder la. we were amused by the so-called Nyonya Mixed Vegetableswhen it’s just some 罗汉斋 (Lohan vegetarian). Fish Head Curry was below par too even though the ingredients were abundant. the flavour lacked of depth and robustness. and uncooked rice was a complete turn off. seriously. overall, the western cuisine is more mention-worthy (with some hits and misses) whichfairs wayyyy better than Nyonya Cuisine. Wok & Pan is where you should go if you’re looking for a value-for-money western food, rest assured you’ll be walking out feeling stuffed! i think that’s what attracts the patrons who keep going back whenever they are feeling western food, for example, my Mami.
