let cos a + cos (a+2pi/3) + cos (a+4pi/3)=0
Prove that
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2 (a+4pi/3) = 3/2
hlp me solve pls...thx^^ |

我没有idea,就只想到把整个equation square先,但又好像不能
你讲你的方法出来,我可以自己做。。。 |

cos a + cos (a+2pi/3) + cos (a+4pi/3)=0
cos (a+2pi/3) + cos (a+4pi/3) = - cos a
Square both sides,
cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2 (a+4pi/3) + 2 cos (a+2pi/3)cos (a+4pi/3) = cos^2 a
cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2 (a+4pi/3) - cos^2 a = - 2 cos (a+2pi/3)cos (a+4pi/3)
用 cos (A+B) = cos A cos B - sin A sin B
来 expand cos (a+2pi/3)cos (a+4pi/3)
然后就找到了... 很长一下 |

Let
cos a + cos (a+2pi/3) + cos (a+4pi/3)=0
Squaring both side, [ using the identity (a+b+c)^2=a^2+b^2+c^2+2ab+2ac+2bc ]
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2(a+4pi/3) +2cos a cos (a+2pi/3)+2cos a cos (a+4pi/3)+2 cos (a+2pi/3) cos (a+4pi/3)=0
Rearranging,
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2(a+4pi/3)= -{2cos a cos (a+2pi/3)+2cos a cos (a+4pi/3)+2 cos (a+2pi/3) cos (a+4pi/3)}
Since
2cos a cos (a+2pi/3) = cos (2a+2pi/3)+cos 2pi/3
2cos a cos (a+4pi/3) = cos (2a+4pi/3)+cos 4pi/3
2 cos (a+2pi/3) cos (a+4pi/3) = cos2a+cos 2pi/3
(using product to sum formula)
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2(a+4pi/3)=- {cos (2a+2pi/3)+cos 2pi/3 +cos (2a+4pi/3)+cos 4pi/3+cos2a+cos 2pi/3}
Simplifying,
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2(a+4pi/3)=- {cos (2a+2pi/3)+cos (2a+4pi/3)+cos2a -3/2}
Applying Sum to Product formula on cos (2a+2pi/3)+cos (2a+4pi/3),
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2(a+4pi/3)=- {2cos(2a+pi)cos pi/3+cos2a -3/2}
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2(a+4pi/3)=- {cos(2a+pi)+cos2a -3/2}
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2(a+4pi/3)=- {-cos2a+cos2a -3/2}
So,
cos^2 a + cos^2 (a+2pi/3) + cos^2(a+4pi/3)= 3/2 |
