spread also call roll, is mean the differences between contract mth X with contract mth Y. eg; dec 08-jan 09 now is trading at -1.0, that's mean jan 09 contract is trading 1 point higher than dec 08 contract. |

Open interest (OI) is calculate base on total open position which people hold for overnight.
eg, if u hold short 5 lot Dec 08 & long 5 lot Jan 09, that's mean u contribute 5 lot open interest each to the Dec 08 contract mth & Jan 09 contract mth.
When OI high, that's mean many investor/speculators/traders participate in the mkt, but OI can be easily manipulate especially by the big boy, cos they can request to not close out the buy & sell, so the OI will be increase dramatically.

If your stop lost order triggered, then your stop order will be fill immediately with any price, eg: buy 10 lots stop 882.5, so once the 882.5 hit, the buy stop order will become mkt order to buy 10 lots, so the price might be 882.5 or higher depand to the offer quantity. maybe it can de done at 885, 888 or even 900 if the offer is very thin or the stop quantity is very big. so that's the stop order risk/weakness.
Stop limit is mean u put a limit for your stop order, eg: sell 5 at 878.0, limit 875.0.
So when price drop & hit 878, your sell stop order will be triggered to sell 5 lots, but with the selling price will not lower than 875.0, once the price is lower than 875.0, your order will be work as a selling order to sell at 875.0. the risk/weakness is your stop may not be fill if the mkt never rebound back to above 875.0 |
