CHRIS Ramsey has been appointed Technical Director at QPR.
Ramsey will be responsible for a variety of roles relating to coaching and player development.
The 53 year-old will oversee all aspects of coaching and coach education within the Academy, and be responsible for developing and implementing player development strategies.
He will also oversee the integration between the Academy, Development Squad and First Team, as well as focusing on the monitoring and reporting of players on loan to other clubs.
Ramsey will also develop and implement the scouting strategy to include the necessary processes and procedures to acquire players, and develop and implement club partnership programmes at both domestic and international level to facilitate greater market accessibility, exchange of best practice, and development / exit opportunities for players.
Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, explained why Ramsey – who was relinquished of his First Team duties in early November – is the ideal candidate for the role, commenting: “Whilst we were disappointed things didn’t work out with Chris at First Team level earlier in the season, we were determined to retain his services at QPR.
“As such, we actually put a clause in his contract which allowed us to retain Chris’s services in a player-development role should things not work out for him as Head Coach.
“Chris knows Academy football inside-out and having put the building blocks in place for a lot of the good restructuring work that’s been done here over the past 11 months, he can come in and make an instant impact in an environment he has helped build.”

23 year-old available to feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers fixture this weekend
QPR have completed the signing of Conor Washington from Peterborough United.
The 23 year-old has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal at Loftus Road, after Rangers agreed an undisclosed fee with the League One club for the striker’s services
Washington has scored 15 goals for Posh this season, with 14 in his last 19, and the in-form front-man expressed his delight at clinching a switch to the Championship with QPR, commenting: “As a striker, having someone like Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink here as manager was a massive pull for me. He's been there, seen it and done it at the very highest level and that can only benefit me as a player.
“I feel I've improved as a player over the last 18 months. My mentality has changed and I'm a better player for it. But I also feel there's a lot more to come from me and I believe I can properly go on to fulfil my potential at QPR.
“I know I've still got a long way to go in my development but I'm relishing the chance to prove my worth. I've proved I can do it at every level I've played at so far, so I don't see any reason why I can't do it here with QPR.
“I can’t wait to pull on the QPR shirt and show the fans what I’m capable of.”
Washington becomes Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s first signing as QPR boss and the R’s gaffer is pleased to have added to his attacking options.
He told www.qpr.co.uk: “Conor is a player I’ve admired for a while now, so I’m delighted he’s agreed to join us.
“I’ve seen first-hand what he’s capable of and his all round game has always impressed me. Of course he’s still got a lot to learn – he’s by no means the finished article – but I am convinced he has what it takes to succeed at a higher level with us.
“He’s raw, he’s hungry, he’s determined. He’s quick and he’s versatile, which is important. He can play on his own up there; in a two; or on the shoulder of another striker. He’s got great pace to get in behind and that’s something we need when you look at our current attacking options.
“Importantly, he’s got the right mentality to be a QPR player. He is relishing the opportunity to play for this club and he wants to wear the shirt with pride.”
Washington, who will wear the number 9 shirt, is eligible to make his QPR debut in this weekend’s live Sky Sports showdown against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Loftus Road on Saturday lunchtime.
