QPR defender Clint Hill has signed a new one year deal at Loftus Road
QPR defender Clint Hill has signed a new one year deal at Loftus Road.
Hill, who skippered Rangers to promotion back to the Premier League with victory over Derby County in the Championship Play-Off Final just over a month ago, today (Wednesday) put pen to paper a one year contract extension until the summer of 2015.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, the popular R’s defender expressed his delight at extending his stay in W12, commenting: “I was always hopeful that I’d get a new deal, so to get it sorted so soon is great.
“I’ve enjoyed some great experiences at QPR over the last four years, I’m settled here, and I’m excited about being part of this club for another season.”
Hill added: “Every year I always think it will be tough to keep my place in the side, and this season I’ve brought myself round to thinking that I won’t play as much and new players will come in. Maybe I’ll need to take on a different role this season.
“The most important thing is the club and how that progresses. I want to take a keen interest in that.”
Hill joined QPR in the summer of 2010 as a free agent following his release from Crystal Palace.
He has since made 150 appearances in all competitions, winning the Supporters Player of the Year accolades in 2011/12 and 2012/13.
Hill admits his success so far with Rangers has only heightened his affection for the club, adding: “It’s frightening to think I’ve played 150 games and been involved in some of the biggest ones of the club’s history.
“I’ve surpassed everything I thought I’d ever achieve here and that’s why this club has gripped me so much.”

Premier League legend Rio Ferdinand signs one-year contract at QPR ...
QPR have completed the signing of Rio Ferdinand on a free transfer.
Ferdinand, 35, has put pen to paper on a one-year contract until the summer of 2015, following his release from Manchester United at the end of last season.
The former England international, who made 81 appearances for the Three Lions, becomes Harry Redknapp’s first signing since the R’s clinched their return to the Barclays Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Ferdinand said: “I used to sit in the Loft – my Dad used bring me here as a young boy. QPR was the first professional club to ever sign me.
“There are great memories for me here – for my family.
“Anton had nothing but good things to say about QPR and I watched Les here as a boy, with the likes of Ray Wilkins, Clive Wilson, David Bardsley and Alan McDonald.”
Ferdinand added: “I spoke to Harry and Mr Fernandes at length. I think they both looked me in the eye and knew that I still have something to offer – that I had a genuine desire to come here and play football.
“I had a lot of offers from all over the world – some in places with a better climate than here. But the draw for me was to play in the Premier League and back here where it all started.
“It’s not about money – I had loads of more lucrative offers available to me.
“I still feel I’ve got something to offer and I’m excited about helping this club cement its place in the Premier League.”
Redknapp, who famously nurtured Ferdinand’s talents during his spell as West Ham United boss, expressed his delight at the centre-halves arrival, commenting: “I really couldn't be more pleased.
“Rio’s a fantastic player and a great professional – I'm delighted we've been able to bring him here.
“I signed Rio as a 14 year-old. He was class on the field and off the field then, and he's continued in that manner throughout his career.”
Redknapp added: “During his time at Manchester United, he was the best defender in Europe, if not the world.
“To bring him to QPR – when he's still got so much to offer in terms of his quality, class, experience and know-how – is a remarkable coup for the club.”
