4/8/10 - Stock Market Investing Ideas

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - Shares of SIRIUS XM Radio exploded higher on Wednesday after news came out that MSNBC just launched a channel recently. Sirius XM Radio stock has now broken out of the $80's and is back trading near $0.95 resistance. Keep an eye on $1.00, if that price is broken again, SIRI could really run up fast again.

Rexahn Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (RNN) - Shares of Rexahn Pharmaceuticals, Inc. had a great day on Wednesday just days after the company submitted phase 2 data to the FDA. Keep an eye on this stock over the next two weeks. Resistance is located at the 52 week high of $2.21

Samson Oil & Gas Limited (SSN) - Shares of Samson Oil & Gas Limited were on fire Tuesday after the company announced a positive well drilled in the Bakken Shale oil field. I still like this stock despite the early sell off on Wednesday. Resistance is now located at $0.75 & $0.80.

Zanett Inc. (ZANE) - Shares of Zanett Inc. fell sharply on Wednesday after the company released a Form 8-K. I wouldn't be buying this stock again unless it broke up through the high of the day again.

DryShips, Inc. (DRYS) - Shares of Dryships Inc had a slight pullback on Wednesday after closing above $6.20 on Tuesday. I am long this stock and will add more to my portfolio on any dip below $6.00.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) - Shares of SIRIUS XM Radio broke $1.00 in early trading on Thursday but then pullback. A close above $1.00 would be bullish and I think we could see another 10-15% gain on top of that shortly after. Pullbacks between $0.90-$0.92 are a strong buy. After $1.00, Sirius XM Radio doesn't have resistance until $1.18.

Samson Oil & Gas Limited (SSN) - Shares of Samson Oil & Gas Limited rallied back Thursday after the company announced a positive well drilled in the Bakken Shale oil field on Tuesday. Resistance on the upside is located at $0.86.

Radient Pharmaceuticals Corporation (RPC) - Shares of Radient Pharmaceuticals Corporation doubled after a write up by a third party website on their cancer screening device. Resistance is located at $0.96 & $1.00 for Friday.

DryShips, Inc. (DRYS) - Shares of Dryships Inc began the trading day very weak and with the futures lower, I dump the stock. I plan to get back in if the stock breaks the previous high of $6.48. Based on the rally back today from the lows, the uptrend is still intact.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC) - Shares of Cell Therapeutics, Inc. jumped again on Thursday for no reason whatsoever. 99% of the people that are holding this stock right now are holding into the FDA decision at the end of April.

Javelin Pharmaceuticals Inc. has announced that it is terminating its existing merger agreement with Myriad Pharmaceuticals Inc. (MPI) in favor of a new acquisition deal from Hospira Inc. and its subsidiary Discus Acquisition Corp.

The original deal called for MPI (Nasdaq: MYRX) to pay the Cambridge-based Javelin at least $95 million and up to $115 million in stock. In breaking the agreement with MPI, which will close on Friday, April 16, Javelin – through its new acquirer Hospira – will be reponsible for paying MPI a $2.9 million termination fee, up to $1.5 million in expenses and $8.3 million for the balance of Javelin’s loan and security agreement. All payments to MPI are due within one business day after the April 16 termination.

The new deal with Hospira (NYSE: HSP), considered a “company superior proposal” by Javelin, is a binding offer that ties together a merger agreement, loan and security agreement and intellectual property agreement. Under terms of the deal, Discus will pay $2.20 per share of outstanding Javelin stock. Also, Hospira will provide the company with $4.5 million for Javelin operating expenses before its acquisition by Hospira.

Javelin (AMEX: JAV) submitted its pain drug target, Dyloject, to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in December, making the company an increasingly attractive acquisition target.

Javelin Pharmaceutical stock jump 62 percent at the time of writing to $2.16 per share.

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (ABK) - Shares of Ambac Financial Group, Inc. failed at $2.08 resistance on Wednesday but bounced back nicely from Tuesday. Going forward, Ambac has support located at $1.62. A break below $1.62 would be bearish and I would be avoiding the stock. On the upside, I plan to buy Ambac for a trade it it breaks $2.08.

Samson Oil & Gas Limited (SSN) - Shares of Samson Oil & Gas Limited filled the gap back to $0.60 on Friday which is bullish if you are long because the worst should be over in the short term. Check out my SSN article I wrote and why I like the stock. Won't buy more until it breaks $1.00 though.

Shares of Samson Oil & Gas (SSN) have been on fire this month on news of a positive Oil well out of the Bakken Shale. The Gene #1-22H well, which is located in Williams County, North Dakota, is producing 859 BOPD with a gas rate of 1,010 MCFD which is 1,027 BOEPD. Samson has about a 31% interest in this well. Good for a little company with a market cap of only 50 million.

This well is adjacent to 2,000-3,000 BOEPD wells from Brigham Exploration Co. (BEXP). Samson will continue to work the Gene #1-22 with hopes that when finished, the well can be an even bigger producer.

It doesn't stop there! Samson Oil and Gas plans to drill another well nearby in May 2010. In total, there are 5-6 potential wells to be drilled in this spacing.

On top of all of this good news from the Bakken Shale, the company also holds 100,000 of high potential acreage in the Niobrara Shale. I will have more on the potential of this shale play in the coming weeks.

As for SSN Stock. Shares have recently declined to under $0.70 after hitting $0.91. I am holding a small position for the long term and plan to double my position IF the stock breaks up through $1.00. After that, I plan to add again IF the stock breaks to a new 52 week high currently located at $1.09.

Samson Oil & Gas is a risky stock right now and is very volatile. I think the risk reward is high for the long term but I am going to let the share price tell me when to buy more stock.

Bank of America Corp (BAC)- Shares of Bank of America Corp made a high of $19.48 after betterthen expected earnings on Friday but then tanked with the Goldman SachsGroup news. $18 is now solid support on the downside. If $18 is broken,I think BAC could easily retest the 50 day moving average located at$16.90. This would then become a strong buy. Resistance is now locatedat $19.48 as well as $20.


Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD)- Shares of Advanced Micro Devices fell on Friday after the companyreported some soft guidance for the next quarter. I like the stock aslong as it remains above $9.20, but if $9.20 fails, we could see a movedown to $8.75.

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (ABK)- Shares of Ambac Financial Group, Inc. failed again at $2.08resistance on Friday. I plan to buy Ambac stock again when it breaks upthrough $2.08.

SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. (SIRI)- Shares of SIRIUS XM Radio held in there on Friday given the sell offin the stock market. Sirius XM Radio has support at $1.00, a breakbelow this level would be bearish.

DryShips, Inc. (DRYS)- Shares of Dryships Inc continue to trade above the $6.20 supportlevel. If we saw a pullback below this level again, I'd be a buyer.Resistance on the upside is located at $7.00.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (CTIC)- Shares of Cell Therapeutics, Inc. are hovering in the $0.60's aheadof the FDA meeting due out at the end of April. Anyone who is buying inright now is probably going to hold into the FDA event

Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SOMX) - Shares of Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. continue to be the hottest stockin 2010. Somaxon Pharmaceuticals has resistance located at $9.10. Iplan to buy when that price is broken. SOMX would also be interestingif it traded near $7.00.

After Goldman, Is It Time to Sell Banks?

Is the party over for financial stocks?

When federal regulators accused Goldman Sachs (GS) and one of its executives of defrauding investors, the stock market plummeted Friday over fears that other financial institutions may face similar scrutiny or tighter regulation. Now, investors face the question of whether to scale back their exposure to the financial sector after its long rally from last year's lows.

Heading into Friday, banks had been on an extraordinary run. In the last year, the New York Stock Exchange Financial Sector Index had climbed nearly 50%, easily outpacing the 36% gain of Dow Jones Industrial Average. However, those gains appeared less stable in the aftermath of the suit announced Friday. Bank stocks and funds suffered immediately. KBW Bank fund (KBE), an exchange-traded fund that tracks the stocks of big names in the financial sector such as Bank of America (BAC), Wells Fargo (WFC) and Citigroup (C) and serves as a proxy for large-cap financials overall, fell 3% on Friday.
