Liverpool have apparently denied the rumours circulating this morning that Girondins de Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has signed a pre-contract agreement worth £25 million with them.
The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds have refuted the reports, which claimed that Chamakh had been offered a £12m signing-on fee and wages of £60,000 a week if he joined the club when his contract in France expires at the end of the season.
Liverpool have not denied that they are in the race to sign the striker, who has previously declared that he intends to make a decision about his future at the end of January.
The Echo claims that the Reds are still waiting to see if their bid for the 26-year-old has been successful.
Atletico Madrid Winger Maxi Rodriguez Arrives In Liverpool For MedicalArgentine edges closer to Anfield switch...
Maxi Rodriguez has arrived in Liverpool for his medical ahead of his move from Atletico Madrid.
The Argentine winger is set to sign an 18-month contract at Anfield shortly, and will watch the Reds' FA Cup third round replay with Reading tonight.
The 29-year-old will then travel back to Spain to iron out the final few details of the move, but could be back in England and in Rafa Benitez's squad for the trip to Stoke City on Saturday.
Benitez had hoped the £1.5 million switch could have been completed last week, according to Press Association Sport, but logistical difficulties prevented it.
The winger still has to agree his pay-off from Atletico, according to reports.
