The Economic Times has a story on the increasing number of private equity fund managers on the board of India Inc. It's natural when PE funds investments happen they also nominate their representatives to the board. Since the PE/VC investment in India has taken off in the last three or four years, more and more PE managers will find their way to the boardrooms.
So more than 150 domestic companies have private equity managers on their boards, and their tribe is growing rapidly. For instance, Temasek has its investment managers on at least 5-7 boards like ICICI OneSource, Matrix, Welspun and Shringar Cinemas. ChrysCapital, has 7 members of its team on various boards. In fact, senior MD Ashish Dhawan sits on 5 boards, including that of Suzlon, MphasiS, Yes Bank, Simplex and GlobalVantage. Another ChrysCapital MD, Brahmal Vasudevan, sits on the boards of four companies. Private equity folks sitting on boards say they are not just taking care of their investments, but are fully involved in all major board functions. They better be.
ChrysCapital Acquires 11% In Supply Chain Solutions Company Redington For $14.8 Million

Delhi-based private equity fund ChrysCapital has picked up 11 per cent stake in Redington India Ltd, a Chennai-based supply chain solution providers in the IT and Telecom space, for Rs 67 crore ($14.8 million). This puts the Redington valuation at Rs 600 crore.
Earlier in 2005, Taiwan-based Synnex had acquired a 34 per cent stake in Redington for$24 million. According to Brahmal Vasudevan, managing director, Chrys Capital, “ Private equity investments are increasingly moving from IT, ITeS and pharma companies to other sectors. We view the supply chain sector in large countries like India, and African nations, to constitute great investment opportunity.”
I had reported earlier about Redington planning a private placement before its proposed India IPO. So ChrysCapital's acquisition price would set a benchmark for its IPO.

整个光碟业的趋势就是大鱼吃小鱼，不排除他的新玩法是压低股价私有化Megan，之后和印度厂合并。
