KUALA LUMPUR: TDM BHD [ ] net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011 jumped 49.2% to RM29.04 million from RM19.46 on the back of an 18% increase in revenue to RM105.79 million. Earnings per share was 12.72 sen while net assets per share was RM3.34. Reviewing its performance on Thursday, May 19, TDM said its PLANTATION [ ] division reported a 43% increase in pre-tax profit mainly due higher crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel prices (PK). Meanwhile, its healthcare division revenue rose 6% due to increase in patients at its hospitals and the food division achieved profit of RM200,000 due to higher average prices of live bird.

TDM to build 4 palm mills in Kalimantan
TDM Bhd, a unit of Terengganu state government, plans to spend RM120 million to build four palm oil mills in Kalimantan, Indonesia in the next eight to 10 years.

Its chairman, Datuk Roslan Awang, said in line with its expansion plan, the company would build its first mill in Kalimantan as its 8,000-hectare plantation would start to produce oil palm in 2013.

"The company has invested RM44 million in the plantation sector in Kalimantan," he told a media briefing after the company's annual general meeting here today.

Roslan said TDM expected to increase its hectarage to 40,000ha in the next eight years from the current 25,000ha.




"We expect to plant oil palm trees in about 20,000ha in the next three years," he said.

He said the plantation segment contributed 91 per cent to the company’s profit last year while healthcare and food eight and one per cent respectively.

Roslan said the company's outlook this year was good as crude palm oil prices were expected to stay above RM3,000 a tonne, backed by good exports of palm oil products.

On the healthcare sector, he said, TDM planned to acquire or build new hospitals.

"TDM started construction of the Kuantan medical centre last year. The RM120 million hospital is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2013," he said.

Roslan said the company owned and managed the Kuala Terengganu specialist hospital, Kelana Jaya medical centre and has acquired the Taman Desa medical centre for RM16.5 million last year.

"We plan to build a new RM150-million, 150-room medical centre in Kuala Terengganu to replace the current one," he said. -- Bernama

首季业绩表现佳 嘉隆发展净利增49.2%


吉隆坡19日讯）嘉隆发展（TDM，2054，种植组）在截至2011年3月31日为止的首季业绩中，取得2千904万令吉净利，较去年同期的1千946万令吉净利增长49.2%。
嘉隆发展在向交易所报备的文告中表示，它的净利表现良好主要归功于营业额方面增长18%至1亿零579万令吉的支撑。
它的每股盈利为12.72仙，每股净资产为3.34令吉。
嘉隆发展表示，它在种植领域的税前盈利取得43%的增长率，主要原因是原棕油（CPO）和棕榈仁（PK）价格走高所贡献。
与此同时，其保健领域收入则见增长6%，主要原因是其旗下医院的病患增加，且其食品部取得20万令吉的盈利。
嘉隆发展预计，根据目前原棕油和棕榈仁走高的优势，嘉隆发展在截至2011年12月31日的财政年的前景可观。
嘉隆发展说：“如无意外，嘉隆发展预计本财政年将持续取得佳绩。”
