Ann Joo to gain from steel demand gaining momentum

KUCHING: Domestic steel demand is expected to gain momentum moving into the second half of 2012 as the nation steps up on infrastructure acitvities with particular emphasis to the immenent roll out of the various projects under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) shifting into high gear.

According to AmResearch Sdn Bhd (AmResearch) in its research report, Ann Joo Resources Bhd was set to gain from steel demand for the Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT line as well as the normalisation of prices of key inputs.
It revealed that the average international scrap price had retracted to the US$460 per tonne level last month from a hefty US$503 per tonne level witnessed last September. As such, the research house maintained Ann Joo as its top pick for traction to the steel sector.

Ann Joo reported a net profit of RM62 million for financial year 2011 (FY11) doubling AmResearch’s initial forecast, with the positive surprise largely springing from a relatively good finish to the final quarter.

Ann Joo managed to deliver a net profit of RM11 million in 4QFY11 despite a challenging operating environment and start up costs incurred during the launch of its blast furnace last October. The research house stated that this reflected the management’s tight control over its cost structure, particularly in the procurement of raw materials.

Ann Joo declared a final dividend per share (DPS) of 3.5 sen bringing FY11 DPS to 7.5 sen that translated into a gross yield of approximately one per cent lower than AmResearch’s 10 sen forecast.

Baring a sudden deterioration in the global macro picture, it projected a 127 per cent year-on-year growth in FY12′s net profit at RM140 million. It expected the company’s net gearing level to have peaked at 1.4 times for FY11 improving to 1.1 times and 0.9 times respectively in FY12 and FY13 following the successful commissioning of its RM650 million hot metal plant last October.

AmResearch pegged Ann Joo’s fair value slightly upwards at RM2.74 per share to adjust for actual FY11 figures.

    牛哥，最近又好像走回好股了，好股(指数股)的CA还可以玩，小股就跌参了。牛哥，我手上还有kinstel好像没力了，还可买进吗?还有notion要发红股也没有什么力，还能买吗? 还是卖了好? 先谢了!
