Koreans..

Cock <--> Clock

They're going to make a lot of jokes out of that. Say, uh...when they're saying 'Hey, I'm pretty busy at the moment, could you please do me a favour by taking a look at my 'clock'? I think it's three now.'

one thing abt english is that there're certain words that dont have a definite pronunciation. dependin on ur geographical area and culture, you might pronoun slightly different than other people but that doesnt mean you're wrong

nevertheless, like u said, there are some words that malaysians must take heed of

I think it is useless to speak "proper English" in Malaysia, people just could not understand what you are speaking, or if they know, maybe some of them will just think you are showing off.

The point is, speaking proper English in Malaysia  is an unrealistic practice.

i've encountered that kinda situations before but i didnt really budge.
the thing is, i'm so used to the way i'm speakin now that it actually feels weird for me to speak manglish. anyhow, i'd still try to adjust to the way malaysians speak under certain circumstances....you know, just for the sake of 'being accepted' by the others

it might not bring you any appraisals in public but it'll do you good in other areas, e.g. work performance.

Yes, I agree. When we're speaking differently, people will think that we're speaking wrongly even though the way we speak is correct.
