Korean Grammar - Basic Sentence Types

The Basic Sentence Types in Korean can be represented by simple combinations of a subject and a predicate. Sentences are usually built upon these Basic Sentence Types. There are four Basic Sentence Types in Korean, which are determined by the type of the verb used in the sentence. The following shows four Basic Sentence Types:

Type I : Subject + Predicative Noun
eg: 이것이 책이다.
     This is a book.
   
Type II: Subject + Adjectival Verb
eg: 날씨가 좋다.
    The weather is fine.
   
Type III: Subject + Intransitive Action Verb
eg: 꽃이 핀다.
    A flower is blooming.

Type IV: Subject + Object + Transitive Action Verb
eg: 아이가 사과를 먹는다
    A child eats an appple.
