我不是佛門中人，佛教是熱帶興起的宗教，我沒有多大興趣





其實很多人誤解了聖經




耶穌 是自封  猶太人    的救主，而不是天下人的救主，而且他也沒有實現救贖 以色列  的諾言。如果   耶穌   真的再來，他也只會救贖  以色列選民，外邦人要得救，必須靠外邦人自己的先知

《新教倫理與資本主義精神》這本書是德國社會學者馬克斯·韋伯的經典著作。



此書主要討論的兩個重要概念便是「新教倫理」和「資本主義精神」，韋伯要回答的研究問題正是新教倫理與資本主義精神之間的關係。



那麼，「新教倫理」和「資本主義精神」的關係是什麼呢？引述韋伯的一段話：



在構成近代資本主義精神，乃至整個近代文化精神的諸基本要素之中，以「職業」概念為基礎的理性行為這一要素，正是從基督教禁慾主義中產生出來的──這就是本文力圖論證的觀點。（頁176）



從上述這段話來看，韋伯認為「新教倫理」與「資本主義精神」存在着某種因果關係。對韋伯來說，他認為資本主義精神有其宗教根源，從新教中的禁慾主義、職業勞動觀念，逐漸發展成資本主義中理性經濟勞動的特徵。不過，隨着資本主義逐漸發展，資本主義已漸漸不需要宗教觀念的支持，失去了原先宗教和倫理上的意涵。

Women, Fertility, and the Rise of Modern Capitalism

One possibility is that this Malthusian revolution sparked a divergence in the growth of income in Europe and other parts of the world even before the industrial revolution (1). But even within Europe, there was an important difference. The Black Death ravaged most of Europe, but after the plague epidemic, fertility did not decrease much in Southern and Eastern Europe, whose populations returned relatively soon to their levels before the pandemic. Instead, fertility increased substantially in Northwestern Europe. Not surprisingly, this part of Europe led the spectacular rise of modern capitalism.
This observation suggests that the Black Death alone, even accounting for its indirect effect on agriculture, marriage age of women, and fertility, cannot be the only explanation for the industrial revolution and the birth of capitalism. There must be other reasons for the critical divergence in the growth of income in different parts of Europe in the centuries after the Black Death. One possible factor is the Protestant revolution.



Lutheran doctrine (promoted by German reformer Martin Luther) influenced the accumulation of human capital in regions that adopted Protestantism (4). Such regions insisted on the requirement of learning how to read and master the Bible, which was translated into German for this reason. This may be considered a variation of, or possibly an addition to, the Weberian theory on the religious origin of modern capitalism. The German sociologist Max Weber argued that the teaching of hard work and frugality, and especially the view that economic success in life was a sign of being chosen for a next life, spurred entrepreneurship. Perhaps it was not the religious teaching and moral values of Protestantism that created an economic growth impetus, but rather the latter's emphasis on the accumulation of human capital, of men and women (4).

“On my first visit to Germany in 1956, we had to stop in Frankfurt on our way to London. We had [earlier] stopped in Rome. This languid Italian voice over the loudspeaker said something … And there were Italian workers trundling trolleys at the airport. It was so relaxed, the atmosphere and the pace of work. Then the next stop was Frankfurt. And immediately, the climate was a bit cooler and chillier. And a voice came across the loudspeaker: “Achtung! Achtung!” The chaps were the same, porters, but bigger-sized and trundling away. These were people who were defeated and completely destroyed and they were rebuilding. I could sense the goal, the dynamism.


…I also visited Switzerland when I was a student in ’47, ’48, on holiday. I came down by train from Paris to Geneva. Paris was black bread, dirty, after the war. I arrived at Geneva that morning, sleeping overnight. It was marvelous. Clean, beautiful, swept streets, nice buildings, marvelous white pillowcases and sheets, white bread after dark dirty bread and abundant food and so on. But hardworking, punctilious, the way they did your bed and cleaned up your rooms. It told me something about why some people succeed and some people don’t. Switzerland has a small population. If they didn’t have those qualities, they would have been overrun …”


(Personally, I think that the key difference between Paris and Geneva – both being linguistically and culturally French-speaking is that Paris is predominantly Catholic (as well as agnostic), while Geneva is predominantly Calvinist-Protestant, and is therefore heavily-influenced by the Protestant Ethic.)









很可惜，意大利的氣候不夠嚴峻，所以天主教社會的發展也就沒有辦法有很大的突破
