Kuala Terengganu to get first cineplex in two years

KUALA TERENGGANU: The city is expected to have its first cineplex when a three-storey mall in Wakaf Tembesu is completed.

State Industrial, Trade and Environment Committee chairman Toh Chin Yaw said the state government had already approved the plans for the mall, which would include the cineplex.

“Barring any glitches, the city will have its first cineplex within two years,” he told The Star yesterday.

Toh said the state government had always encouraged any private initiative to provide entertainment for youth, especially in the form of a cinema.

He added that the state government was mindful of the fact that residents of the capital had to travel two hours to Kerteh just to watch a movie.

“I know it is strange that a city like Kuala Terengganu does not have a cinema, let alone a cineplex.


“Many companies applied to build a cinema here but somehow it did not work out,” he said.

Toh, who is also state MCA liaison chairman, said the state government understood the frustration of the people.

“We hope that the cineplex would become a reality,” he said.

He also hoped the new cineplex would reduce the Mat Rempit problem in the city.

“We want a place where the youth can have good, clean fun without breaking the law,” he said.

kelantan虽然与丁加奴那么靠近，可是路程却需要4个小时左右
不如到penang去，才3个小时半就到了。

为了看一场戏，从KB花三个小时去到KT，又花三个小时回来
我还是在家里用电脑上网接跟40“电视看更好！又是HD的。

我搭AA到LCCT，然后去Putrajaya Alamanda看一场戏，再搭AA回KB应该会快过驾车去KT吧~~！！
