It was believed that during medieval times, people use spices for medicinal purposes. Although science has yet to prove that spices cure diseases, but there are compelling evidence that some spices may help in treating certain health conditions, not to mention, it packs a ton of flavor to your meal. Just like fruits and vegetables, spices also have antioxidants that benefit your health. Moreover, if you are looking into losing some weight, here are some metabolic boosting spices that you can add into your meal.

1) Turmeric
Turmeric has cancer-fighting antioxidants that help in decreasing inflammation and increases fat-burning to aid with weight loss. It also helps to heal ulcers and infections, reduce cholesterol levels, improves joints, and it has the potential against malignant tumors.

2) Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant compound that lowers blood sugar levels and fights inflammation. What’s more, it can also alleviate nausea and aid in fat burning.

3) Saffron
Saffron is an expensive spice because it comes from flowers that bloom for only one week a year. The key ingredient, Crocetin, can help in improving vision and reducing depression. Also, just by adding a pinch of this spice to your meal, it could help stop your sugar cravings and relieve PMS symptoms like mood swings.

4) Pepper
In order to boost your metabolism and increase calorie burn, add some pepper to your dish. Spices like cayenne pepper or chilli pepper contains Capsaicin, helps in pain relief, enhances memory, improves blood circulation, and is traditionally used for colds and coughs.
So, instead of just adding salt and pepper to your dishes, try adding more herbs and spices and enjoy a flavorful meal.
