When I was a child, my mother would check up on me every morning to see if I made my bed when I wake up. Since then, it became a habit to make my bed as soon as I open my eyes. But surprisingly, it’s actually better for your health not to make your bed at all.
Did you know that there are approximately 1.5 million house dust mites on your bed? Nasty isn’t it? Well, these tiny creatures live in moist and warm environment so they are often found in mattresses, pillows, and carpets. In fact, they dwell in these places and feed on dead skin cells and its’ poop is possibly one of the causes of allergies such as asthma, sneezing, coughing, itchiness, and runny nose.
Imagine that when you sweat while you are sleeping and the next morning, you immediately make your bed when you wake up. You are practically creating the perfect feasting ground for the mites! So, it’s best to leave the bed unmade to expose the mattress and sheets to light and air which will cause the mites to dehydrate and eventually die.
This method doesn’t necessarily kill all dust mites as there will still be some lurking in dark corners. But it’s worth the try. That being said, to all the lazybones, this is good news for you.
Hope this helps,
