没错,could 和 would 的确有这个分别,但是,当我们请求对方帮忙时,如 Could you do me a favour,我们并不是询问对方‘有没有能力’帮我们,而是‘愿不愿意’,这和Would you do me a favour 是一样的。

对对。。字面上的意思不一样。。
不过打从心里的意思是一样的,都是请求对方帮忙。。。

就好像。。
‘能不能帮我个忙’
‘可不可以帮我个忙?’

Highlight起来这一句...

原帖由 chingfong85 于 19-12-2006 12:32 AM 发表
How could you do that?
你是怎么办到的?/ 为什么你能够那么做?

How could you do that?
并不是你是怎么办到的,而是 "你怎么能够这样做",例子:

A: I've just killed your cat.(我刚刚杀了你的猫.)
B: How could you do that?!?!(
你怎么能够这样做?!?!)

"
你是怎么办到的?/ 为什么你能够那么做?"是"How did you do it?"

Ok, thanks...

3rd Question from me.

"to make it live" or "to make it lives" ?

The phrase "to make it lives" is wrong.
After the word "to", all verbs must not have the "s".

"to make it lives"是错的. "to"后面,动词不能有"s".
Therefore, to make it live is the correct answer.

谢谢指点。。我修改了。。

有时候以华语来解释英文,意思上会有差别。。

华语。。‘可以’。。‘能够’。。‘能’。。
有时有些人也是乱乱用。。

其实 could and can is easy to compare.
为何那么复杂的。。

如果用could的话就比较有礼貌。
why-----it is because
could -->‘可不可以’。‘有没有能力'
can----->一定要可以。。
E.G.
Could i go to toilet.-->可不可以上厕所。
Can i go to toilet.---->一定要给我上厕所。

我倒想问这里的朋友。
You and I
You and me
怎样分。

还有怎么没有人提到passive voice.
其实我也想向你们大家学习更多Grammar.

有啊, 前面已经教过pronoun used as subject and pronoun used as object 的分别
另外,passive就是“被"的意思。如:
He uses a pencil to write.== A pencil is used by him to write.

From http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/grammar/learnit/learnitv264.shtml

So whether you say you and I or you and me in co-ordinate phrases depends on whether they function as subjects or objects in the sentence:

  • You and I should go and speak to Trevor about this matter.

  • Trevor has indicated that he wants to interview you and me.
Note that in colloquial informal British English, people often use you and me as subjects, even though it is known to be incorrect. This has led to an assumption that you and me can never be correct and people (even the Queen perhaps) then sometimes use you and I as objects             instead of the correct form you and me.But for your own convenience, keep a clear distinction between them as the same rule applies to other personal pronouns, i.e it's she and I when they are the subject of the clause and her and me when they are the object:
  • Do you know Geoffrey? Well, he and I are going to Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea on Saturday.

  • They wouldn't listen to her or me when I said we couldn't go with them.

虽然严格上是错的,不过很多人在日常生活中用you and me, 包括我在内

can i go to toilet?(不是一定可以去的。)

+statement He plays well(He (does play) well。)
-statement He (does not play) well.
+Question  (does) he (play) well?
-Question  (Doesn't) he (play) well?

If it is positive statement,eg He argues with Amelia.
                                    |
                                   / \
                                 (does argue)
when we say "He does argue with Amelia" instead of he argues with amelia,this is emphasizing.

When we want to form a question from positive statement,
                   ( Does) he (argue) with Amelia?
                       \       \
                        \       \
                         (Does   argue)
The first part will be pulled in front of the pronoun and the last part will left behind the pronoun.
Remember,you may get either positive answer or negative answer if you ask postive question.

If it is a negative statement,eg He (does not dance)(v) well.
                                      /    |     \
                                     /     |      \
                                    (does   not    dance_
When you want to form negative question,the last part is always left behind,so the first 2 part will be put infront of the pronoun.

Negative question - (Does not) he (play) well?(Doesn't he play well?)

                                      Negative question always demand a positive answer.
                          eg     Positive question a: Can i use your toilet,can't i?
                                 negative answer    b:sry sir,you can't.
                                 Positive answer    b:Yes,you can.

                                   negative question c: Can't i dance with you,can i ?
                                   positive answer    d:Yes,you can.
                                   Negative answer    d:No,you can.

画线的都是verb,(-)的也是verb,但缺一就不算了。(plays-verb,does play-verb...does he play well?Does and play are verb(singular).

Negative question always demands a positive answer,remember.
This is how a lawyer push a witness.They used to ask negative question.

erm..
我这里想写多一次gerund..

Gerund-->凡是有(-ing)的verb都是Gerund.

Pattern-->Verb+ing=gerund

e.g.
take+ing=talking.

Uses
1)两个verb 重叠的时候,第二个verb就得+ing

e.g.
Stop  Run   <two verb>
verb  verb
Stop runing
Keep talking

2)Mostly at the front part of a sentence.

e.g.
-->Generally, playing football is quite popular.(Not at the front of a sentence.)
-->Smoking causes bad healthy.

3)In continuous tense form.

e.g.
is
are
am       +verb 就得+ing
were
was

4)After a preposition.

e.g.
before talking
after eating
for healing
by killing
without bathing
in setting
of singing
(比较少用)

谢谢。。

passive就是"被"的意思,倒转句子,将本来的object 变成subject,subject 变成object, 如下:

He killed a cat. 变passive== A cat was killed by him.(被杀了)
在句子里‘He’由subject 变成object‘Him’

另外He killed a cat.这类似的句子被称为active voice(主动式)
    A cat was killed by him. 却是passive voice(被动式)

哇!!谢谢你哦。

如果我没有错的话,每个tenses 里面的passive voice都有不同的写法(pattern).

不必客气。
                               PRESENT          PAST             PAST PARTICIPLE
你说的应该是past paticiple 如: go               went                gone
                                eat              ate                 eaten
                                draw             drew                drawn

I have eaten my lunch.

He had drawn a picture.
A picture had drawn by him.
