Handel's Messiah 中的 "Hallelujah" Chorus部份算是最經典個基督教神曲之一，堪稱經典中個經典


其詞全部取自＜＜Revelation>>，可以講其實Handel只不過係為Revelation譜曲：

And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying,Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. (Revelation 19:6)
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. (Revelation 11:15)

And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (Revelation 19:16)


Handel個 ＜＜Messiah＞＞ 在London首演時，英國國王 King George II在 Hallelujah Chorus奏出時突然立正起來，一直到Chorus結束為止。當時王室有一項規定， 國王豎立時觀眾必須一同豎立，所以當時全場都一同立正。雖然後世對他此舉原因有諸多猜測，但最廣為接受個理由係他為了表示他亦係王中之王Jesus之臣民所以立正。無論如何，觀眾在Hallelujah Chorus演奏時立正已經成為一項優良傳統



而相傳當時Handel在譜完Messiah時，他僕人一直叫他他沒有應。於是僕人就走進Handel房間看發生甚麼事。

結果，他看到Handel淚流滿面，就問Handel有甚麼問題？Handel舉起手中樂譜回答，"我好像看見  神  的臉了"
