Vivacity Megamall takes pride in good tenant mix

KUCHING: Coramax Sdn Bhd (Coramax), the developer of Vivacity Megamall, believes the appeal of new and popular brands as well as good mixed of tenants will help draw a large amount of shoppers to its shopping mall which is on track for completion.
Vivacity Megamall is on schedule to complete and is expected to welcome shoppers by the third quarter of next year.
Coramax director Sim Yaw Yen revealed that Vivacity Megamall, with a gross floor area of 1.3 million square feet, will be the largest shopping complex in Sarawak when it opens its doors to the public in the third quarter of 2015 (3Q15). It is currently 80 per cent completed.
Vivacity Megamall will house 300 international, regional and local brands ranging from various industries such as food and beverage (F&B), fashion, sportswear, retailers and entertainment outlets.
“We are confident that we will fill up the (retail space of the) mall once it is open. To provide a wide range of choices, there will be 280 to 300 brands located inside the mall.
“With the huge size of the mall, Kuchingnites will find it more exciting as there is a new place to shop besides attracting more tourists and transform the lifestyle of the people here,” Sim told the media during a press conference here yesterday to unveil some of the new brands that are going to conduct businesses at Vivacity Mall.
He said Coramax will unveil more new brands from time to time towards the opening of the shopping mall next year.
He pointed out that there could be more surrprises in store for the public with new international renowned brands making waves into Kuching soon at Vivacity Mall.
Nonetheless, he observed that once the tenants are ready to conduct business at the mall, Coramax will update the public and make the announcement through the print media as well its the social media webpage.
In terms of leasing, Sim disclosed that the mall has received overwhelming response from retailers with 80 per cent of the retail space being taken up so far.
To date, Coramax has announced 115 brands which will make their presence felt at Vivacity Mall.
He observed that for F&B, some of the brands that will be conducting businesses there are Nando’s Chicken, Starbucks Coffee, Earthlings Coffee, Library Coffee, The Coffee Bean, Antipodean Cafe, Secret Recipe’s beyond veggie, Oinks, McDonald’s, Quiznos Sub and Burger King.
“Nando’s Chicken is a Mozambique/Portugese restaurant which originates from South Africa and is one of the most popular chicken restaurants in the world.
“Burger King is a long awaited brand and many Kuchingnites are eagerly waiting for Burger King to reach our shores.
“We are happy to announce Burger King as one of our tenants for the mall,” Sim disclosed.
Additionally, he said Quiznos Sub which serves delicious and healthy submarine sandwiches will also be at Vivacity Megamall.
He noted that Quiznos Sub has just entered the Malaysian market recently and is the second largest chain restaurant serving submarine sandwiches while beyond veggie is Secret Recipe’s organic F&B outlet.
Besides that, Sim observed Antipodean Cafe, one of the most popular Australian style cafes which is available at MidValley Megamall and Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur, serving nice western food and kiwi recipes will also open its door at Vivacity Megamall.
He said the lifestyle cafes and restaurants will be located at the mall’s alfresco areas that stretches more than 400 metres and will operate until 12 midnight daily.
As for entertainment, he said TGV Cinemas (TGV) will be putting up its first IMAX screen in East Malaysia.
Besides cinema, Sim said there are also young adults games outlets such as CYC Mega Leisure, Molly Fantasy and Kidzoona by Aeon for youths and kids.
Other than that, he observed the likes of KMax, one of the high-end entertainment outlet for karaoke singing and health and fitness centre such as Level Up Fitness will also be at Vivacity Megamall.
“Level Up Fitness is one of the strongest local home-grown brands in recent years and has signed up for a 16,000 square feet lot at Vivacity.
“The Level Up Fitness lot is facing the road and people can have a great view while doing their exercise there,” he observed.
As for the sports section, Sim noted there will be Sports Direct – UK’s number one sports store which has taken up a space of more than 10,000 square feet at the mall while Royal Sporting House and Sports Empire will also be there.
He revealed the sports cluster at Vivacity Megamall will occupy a total area of more than 30,000 square feet, and could be the largest in Sarawak having renowned brands such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance and Converse.
Apart from that, Sim said its residential units, Jazz Suites, which is built on top of Vivacity Megamall have more than 95 per cent of the units sold.
