6. with intramolecular h-bonding, boiling point is lower as it reduces van de waals force. less heat is needed to break the intermolecular bond.
with intermolecular h-bonding, boiling point is higher. each molecule is held by van de waal and additional h-bond, so more heat is needed to break the bond.
with both h-bonding, intermolecular h-bonding is more significant. |
